GREAT PTA SIGN-UP DAY RECAP AND POST-EVENT VIDEO!

The "Great PTA Sign-up Day" was a huge success! Thank you to all of our district leaders for participating! Our council set a goal of 222 members for the day of October 26 (a one-day objective), and 179 people joined PTA on that day, attaining 81% of the goal. We would like to express our gratitude to all PTAs for taking part in the Great PTA Sign-up Day. Without your help, this wouldn't have been possible, and we saw a noticeable increase in membership every hour. We appreciate all of the membership chairs and leaders who were able to promptly add members to the system. We are incredibly lucky to be a part of this large team.

In recognition and appreciation of the fantastic efforts from ALL of our local PTAs in Everett, Washington, during the recent "Great PTA Signup Day" event, Superintendent of Everett Public Schools Dr. Ian Saltzman and Everett PTSA Council President Craig Willis agreed to have a pie thrown in each of their faces. But it was so much fun, they each opted for THREE pies!
THANK YOU to everyone who helped support PTA membership!

Welcome Our New FACE/DEI Chairs to Everett PTSA Council!
We are excited to welcome our newest Board members, Family & Community Engagement (FACE) & Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) to Council! Our co-chairs are Tiffany Nash and Anita Dhinakar. Our Executive Committee appointed Tiffany and Anita as Co-Chairs for FACE/DEI for the remainder of the 2022-2023 PTA term.

Tiffany Nash is the President & FACE Chair for North Middle PTA and Anita Dhinakar is the Vice President of Fundraising and Reflections Chair for Heatherwood Middle PTA. Please join us in welcoming and congratulating Tiffany and Anita as our Council FACE/DEI Co-Chairs, and offering your support!

Council Now Has its First-Ever Environmental Sustainability Chairperson!
Our Executive Committee recently approved Mee Yoke McGuire as our council's first-ever Environmental Sustainability Chairperson, and she is hereby appointed to that role for the remainder of the 2022-2023 PTA term. This role will not affect her Treasurer duties in our council. (NOTE: As Mee Yoke was one of the candidates but also in the Executive Committee, she abstained from the decision-making process)

Mee Yoke is someone who tries to introduce sustainability practices within her home and lifestyle, tries to promote environmental-friendly sustainable practices at events, and who cares deeply about the effects of climate change on children. In the Environmental Sustainability Chairperson role, she hopes to help educate our local PTAs on sustainability topics and strategies, as well as help make our council's own programs and practices more sustainable in practice. Future ideas include bringing in guest speakers and initiating district-wide sustainability events. As this is a new position within our Council Board of Directors, it is a clean slate to work from and the sky is the limit! Please join us in congratulating Mee Yoke as our Environmental Sustainability Chairperson, and offering your support! We know she will do GREAT!

Everett PTSA Council 7.3 - Outstanding PTA Council of the Year!
Picture
Picture
At the Washington State PTA (WSPTA) Convention in mid-May, our council was announced as the 2021-2022 Outstanding PTA Council of the Year. This honor was truly unexpected but is definitely appreciated. When the 2021-2022 PTA term began, we had some returning board members and some new board members. Between the previous PTA term and this term, our council board went from having longest-tenured members being 5-10+ years in council to all members being 0-3 years in council this term. But although this was a fairly inexperienced group in regard to direct involvement in a council board, each person brought an array of experience from the local PTA level and a commitment to providing support to our local PTAs. We learned from each other, a lot of fresh ideas were explored, and we all came together as a team.

This team worked exceptionally hard to set a good example for our local PTAs and supporters. Did all of our ideas and plans work as expected? No. Are there opportunities for improvement and further growth? Definitely. But our mutual respect for each other, while trying to maintain best practices and provide assistance where needed, led to many successes for this team.

This team's commitment to teamwork, communication, and recognition for our volunteers and supporters were exceptional. We worked with local PTAs to provide guidance and support throughout the entire PTA term. We also applied for all seven WSPTA Awards of Excellence, achieving top level in each of them (Platinum Level for Standards of Excellence, and Gold Level for Outstanding Communication Strategy, PTAs Taking Significant Action, Advocacy, Family and Community Engagement, Outstanding Newsletter, and Outstanding Website). Our council reached Platinum membership growth. We passed our first-ever Council Resolution, one which demonstrates a commitment to environmental sustainability. We worked with the school district to provide families and community members with multi-lingual resources. We collaborated with PTA leaders not only within our own district but also other districts and Regions.

But none of this would have been possible without YOU. Everyone from our Council Board of Directors to our local PTA leaders to our school & district staff members to the children, families, and community members to our supporters made ALL of the successes possible this school year. To be "Outstanding PTA Council of the Year" is not an individual achievement; we share this honor with all of you. For your ongoing support, THANK YOU.
