Our Everett PTSA Council Climate Resolution was approved during the May 18, 2022 membership meeting! Approval provides our Council the opportunity to work with other PTA's in our district and with Everett Public Schools to guide and support sustainable practices and develop an implementation plan. We look forward to this collaborative process and invite other PTA's to join us with a shared vision to support sustainable practices in our schools and community.
We invite you to join us as we collaborate with other PTA's to implement sustainable practices across our district!
Please Share Your School's Environmental Education and Sustainability Successes!
As part of Everett PTSA Council's ongoing efforts to promote environmental education and sustainability opportunities to all of our local PTAs, we would like to hear from YOU.
Does your school have any "Green Team" or other environment-focused group? Are any environmentally-conscious efforts implemented at your school by staff members, PTA members, and/or community members?
If so, let us know what activities have been implemented at your school! Then we can highlight those efforts on our council website and in our council newsletter. Sharing success stories from our local schools will help provide ideas for schools and PTAs hoping to start or expand their own sustainability efforts. We would love for all of our local schools and PTAs to help us encourage environmental education and sustainability! We look forward to hearing from YOU!
Whether you have success stories to share or if you want to learn more about how to start or improve environmental education and/or sustainability at your school, please email us!
Council Now Has an Environmental Sustainability Chairperson!
Our Executive Committee recently approved Mee Yoke McGuire as our council's first-ever Environmental Sustainability Chairperson, and she is hereby appointed to that role for the remainder of the 2022-2023 PTA term. This role will not affect her Treasurer duties in our council. (NOTE: As Mee Yoke was one of the candidates but also in the Executive Committee, she abstained from the decision-making process)
Mee Yoke is someone who tries to introduce sustainability practices within her home and lifestyle, tries to promote environmental-friendly sustainable practices at events, and who cares deeply about the effects of climate change on children. In the Environmental Sustainability Chairperson role, she hopes to help educate our local PTAs on sustainability topics and strategies, as well as help make our council's own programs and practices more sustainable in practice. Future ideas include bringing in guest speakers and initiating district-wide sustainability events. As this is a new position within our Council Board of Directors, it is a clean slate to work from and the sky is the limit! Please join us in congratulating Mee Yoke as our Environmental Sustainability Chairperson, and offering your support! We know she will do GREAT!
