REFLECTIONS CELEBRATION RECAP
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us on January 5, 2022, for our Reflections Celebration, hosted by Everett PTSA Council 7.3!

This IN-PERSON Celebration honored students from across Everett School District who participated in the Reflections Contest for the 2021-2022 Academic Year AND revealed which students' entries would advance to the State Level.

The event was a success and was held at the Community Resource Center in Everett. This year, we had 188 Reflections submissions from 15 schools, and all students who participated received a ribbon to honor their work and participation! As usual, it was SO HARD to decide which entries would advance to the State Level. Our judges selected 38 total student entries to continue on to the State Level of the program in the following categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.

As not everyone was able to attend our Reflections Celebration event, thank you, also, to those who attended our drive-thru event on January 20, 2022 at Hauge Homestead Park.

STUDENT RECOGNITION
Congratulations to all students who participated and also, a BIG Thanks to all the PTAs that hosted programs this year!
View the list of Students who are advancing to State for Reflections, and again, congratulations to all students who participated!

HOW TO RUN A SUCCESSFUL REFLECTIONS PROGRAM
Reflections® is a National PTA and Washington State PTA arts recognition program for students in grades Pre-K through 12. The program is structured for PTAs to celebrate and recognize students at the local, Council, State, and National levels. All PTAs/PTSAs in good standing may sponsor this program. Students may only submit entries through a PTA/PTSA. Parent groups not affiliated with the National PTA are not eligible to sponsor this program.

If you would like to successfully implement a Reflections program at your school, please follow the guidelines shown in the official WSPTA Reflections Handbook and Reflections Submission Checklist. If you have any further questions regarding the Reflections program or submissions, please contact our
Everett PTSA Council Reflections Chairs: Georgina Johns.

Special for 2021-2022: This year’s program was a hybrid program. Local PTAs could decide for themselves to collect actual art or virtual art. Council accepted both physical and virtual art submissions. The WA State and National level programs will be 100% virtual. We will keep our local PTAs and Reflections Chairs updated on submission options for next school year!

Training Agenda:
  • We’ve opened up this training to anyone in our state, so the first part of the training will be the official WA State PTA Reflections Training materials.
  • There are a number of built in pauses to discuss ideas, questions and answers throughout, but we’ll have a brief Q&A at the end to handle any state level things there.
  • We will follow that up with a brief presentation of how our council will be handling the program virtually and then take Q&A on that.
  • We’re considering recording the training session (we’ll warn you before we start that portion), for sharing with other areas or folks that couldn’t make it.
  • Breakout Rooms – If we get a lot from one region or council, we can do a breakout room for the second part as needed, and you guys can have a discussion with your folks in there!
  • Of course, everyone is welcome to stay in the main session and hear how we’re handling it here

2020-21 Results: The Virtual Year! Thanks to Covid 19, everything was virtual. Here at Everett Council, 19 schools participated, 118 pieces were submitted and 30 were forwarded to the state level! 6 were recognized at the state level, 3 of which went to National where 1 received recognition as well! Our celebration was converted to drive thru and we ended sharing the results by video. Additionally folks could do a virtual ‘artwalk’ with the art loaded to webpages where folks could see every single submission.  The theme of “I Matter Because…” turned out be culturally significant and we had a lot of amazing pieces. Check out our video to celebrate the folks advancing to state.

Click this video link to see the full list of local artists who had Reflections submissions that went to the State Level!
Congratulations and special thanks to ALL of the artists in our district!

Thank you and congratulations to every student who participated in Reflections, this past school year!
