July 2022:
Introducing Co-Directors Jen Hirman & Hai Evans

Greetings Region 7 PTA Leaders,

Thank you so much for taking on these important roles to lead your local PTAs this year!  It is with great leaders like you that Washington State PTA is able to advocate for the education, enrichment, safety, and well-being of all our students, schools, and communities statewide.

At this time, we would like to introduce ourselves, Jen Hirman and Hai Evans, your Region 7 Co-Directors for the 2022-2023 term. Together with our Area VP, Tori Emerson, and our Service Delivery Team (SDT), we are here to lend guidance and leadership to all of you this year.

My name is Jen Hirman, returning in the Region Director role, and I am so excited to be working alongside Hai this year as Co-Directors!  I have 10 years experience in PTA leadership positions at various levels: Cedar Wood Elementary School and Heatherwood M.S., Everett PTSA Council and Region 7.  My husband and I have two daughters: a 9th grader at Henry M. Jackson H.S. and the other will be starting at the University of Washington this fall.  I've had a chance to meet some of you who are returning leaders at PTA in the Park events or at WSPTA Convention in May, and I'm hoping this year we can have more opportunities to connect in-person with all of our Region 7 PTAs.

My name is Hai Evans and I was, up until recently, the Region 7 SDT Representative for Mukilteo.  I live in Mukilteo with my husband Jeff, our 3 kids (sophomore at Kamiak HS, 7th grader at Explorer MS, and 5th grader at Mukilteo Elem), and our mini-husky. Prior to Mukilteo, I was heavily involved with the PTA in the Everett School District for the last 10 years. In those 10 years I have taken on many roles including committee chairs, secretary, treasurer, and president at several different local PTAs. In addition to my volunteer work, I am also a certificated teacher and I substitute part-time as a math/science teacher.  I met Jen while PTAing in Everett and have had such admiration and respect for her leadership through the years.

We are both so excited to work together this year to bring support from WSPTA to Region 7.  Please feel free to reach out to us any time you need assistance with anything PTA-related.  We look forward to getting to know your local PTAs better this year!

February 2022: Greetings from New Region 7 Director

Thanks for all your patience as I’m getting up and running.  My desk has spreadsheets and maps and sticky notes filled with notes and ideas, and I’m learning a lot about our Region and our various PTAs.

As we start to hear COVID case numbers going down and possibly mask mandates being eased, we are starting to see schools more open to volunteers and end-of-year activities returning, even if they are not exactly what’s been done in the past.  In fact, for many schools and PTAs, this continues to be a time when events and programs might be re-imagined.  As you've heard and in that same spirit, this year we can also look forward to the WSPTA Convention May 20-22 being in-person AND online!  This spring will be a great opportunity for all of our leaders to get reinvigorated with PTA passion!

For all of our Region 7 PTAs, I'll be hosting zoom "Open Office Hours" from noon-1pm every other Wednesday starting March 2nd.  Please feel free to pop in for 5 minutes or for the whole hour.  If that time doesn't work for you and you'd like to chat or zoom with me, please just let me know and we'll schedule something. Details coming soon.

Thanks for all you do!
~Jen

January 2022: New Region 7 Director

I'm delighted to announce Jen Hirman has taken on the role of Region 7 Director! Many of you have worked with Jen before, and I know she's looking forward to getting to know all of you better. I'll still be lurking around ready to help our region as your Area VP and provide whatever support I can to you and Jen. As of today, Jen has the ptareg7@wastatepta.org email address and I can still be reached at the areaevp@wastatepta.org address.
Thank you all so much for your willingness to serve others. I hope you're all doing well and healthy although I know this season has brought some very real sorrow and hardships for some of us. Please let us know if you need anything.

Thank you Jen and I can't wait to help bring your goals to life for the Region!
