To: PTA/PTSA Presidents and Treasurers within the Everett School District RE: Everett PTSA Council 7.3 – Shoe Fund
Hello and welcome back to a new school year! As the school year starts we would like to share with you what the Everett PTSA Council’s Shoe Fund Program is and some recent changes
The Shoe Fund program provides gift cards to students in the Everett School District who are in need of shoes. This year, due to the closure of Payless Shoe stores, we are now partnering with Famous Footwear to continue to offer this program to our students. We ask that all PTAs/PTSAs in the Everett School District donate annually. Through the Shoe Fund program, The Everett PTSA Council provides a $55 gift card on an as-needed basis. Shoe Fund gift cards are requested and distributed through a designated staff member at each school. For accountability and tracking purposes, we require the staff member to provide us the grade level of each student for which a gift card is being requested.
Last year, we distributed 261 gift cards, and 26 pairs of shoes to Everett School District Students. We were able to purchase 63 pairs of shoes before Payless closed. The total retail value of the cards/shoes distributed was $7,270. Our PTAs/PTSAs donated a generous $7,500. We also raised an additional $4,162 through community donations and other fundraising efforts.
We are excited to be able to continue this program and ask each Local PTA/PTSA to donate to our Shoe Fund Program according to the recommended guideline provided on the Shoe Fund invoice. If your PTA/PTSA can’t do the full amount suggested, we would still welcome whatever funds you can contribute. Every dollar counts towards getting a student a new pair of shoes. If you have budgeted more, or have the ability to contribute more than the suggested amount, we would greatly appreciate this as well, as the cost of cards is now a higher dollar amount for all students.
Our highest demand is during the first few months of the school year. Therefore, we sincerely request your contribution by October 12th. In these times of financial difficulties for many, we are anticipating this program to continue to be greatly utilized going into the future. We are thankful for your continued support to help the students of the Everett School District.
For your convenience, we are including an invoice with this letter. Please mail the invoice along with your check, payable to the Everett PTSA Council 7.3, to the following address: Everett PTSA Council 7.3 Shoe Fund Program 3900 Broadway Everett, WA 98201
