Individual Awards and Celebration Timeline
PTA is a volunteer organization. Each year, PTAs have the opportunity to recognize and thank their volunteers through individual awards. The culmination of these awards is the Everett PTSA Council Awards Celebration. 
The Timeline and Tips document (link below) is a suggested timeline that will assist your PTA in organizing the nomination process, presentation and celebration of your Golden Acorns, Outstanding Educators, Outstanding Advocates, Outstanding Student Advocates and Honorary Life Membership recipients. Please keep in mind deadlines for nominations, ordering awards, and presentations. The Everett PTSA Council looks forward to celebrating your volunteers this Spring.

If you are not familiar with volunteer recognition awards, here are some general FAQ:
  • Why are these awards important?
    • Showing appreciation and recognition for your volunteers and/or staff members who go above & beyond is one of the most important things that EVERY PTA should do. It helps make those people feel more appreciated for their efforts, and in many cases will help them want to help the PTA more in the future as well as promote the PTA. A win-win for everyone!
 
  • What if we have a small PTA Board?
    • That is totally OK! And with a small team on your PTA Board, you definitely know who your high-performing volunteers are, and possibly who are high-performing staff members. And if you have any questions or would like some guidance regarding award recipients, our council is happy to help!
 
  • Will finding award recipients take up a lot of time?
    • No. You and your team already know which volunteers and/or staff members have put in a lot of effort this school year to help children. This is your opportunity to recognize those efforts. Finding and selecting award recipients does not require much time.
 
  • What if we will not announce or recognize our award recipient(s) before the April 22 date?
    • That is totally OK! Our council is asking to know the award recipients' names by April 22, so that we can do proper planning for our district-wide Awards Celebration that will happen in May. By submitting your PTA's award recipients' names to our council by April 22, that will help our council ensure that those names will be included on our event program and presentation, and that each award recipient is invited to the big event. Our council will not be publicly releasing any names prior to May, so you do not need to worry about any surprises being spoiled!
 
  • Am I able to order awards for the volunteer recognition award recipient(s)?
    • Yes. Each local PTA is able to order certificates & pins (or plaques & pins) from the Washington State PTA Merchandise Store online:

      • Please note that orders might take several days to several weeks to process.
 
  • What if our team does not know the award process, or if we have any questions?
    • That is why our council is here! We are here to support and assist YOU. Your PTA is a big part of our PTA family, and we want to make certain you are included and can get assistance, every step of the way! Contact us at any time: [email protected]
 
  • What are the different awards that can be considered?
    • Every local PTA has the opportunity to offer volunteer recognition awards in the following categories (but check your Standing Rules, just in case only specific volunteer recognition awards are offered by your specific PTA):
      • Golden Acorn Award

      • Outstanding Advocate Award
      • Outstanding Student Advocate Award
      • Honorary Life Membership Award
