WHY BEST PRACTICES
What are Best Practices?

A checklist of items that a local PTA should follow to be the best local unit it can be.

Why Best Practices?
To guide our PTAs to be child focused, fiscally responsible, practice fiduciary responsibility, knowledgeable, involved, and well trained. Following Best Practices makes earning the Standards of Excellence award easier to apply for and receive.

Planning Checklist by Month:

REMEMBER…following Best Practices does not mean you have to check off everything on the list. Your goal should be to check off more this year than last year and/or improve on those items you do check off. If you do not check off something this year, work with your board to come up with ways to accomplish it next year.

DESIGNATED SCHOOL EVENT NIGHTS 2021-2022
Designated school nights are designed in an attempt to avoid conflict in elementary, middle, and high school events.  It is important that we make every effort to abide by this schedule.   Please also communicate frequently with the schools in your specific feeder pattern to avoid conflicts. Click HERE for pdf.

ELEMENTARY
1st & 3rd Monday
2nd & 4th Thursday

MIDDLE SCHOOL
2nd & 4th Monday
1st Tuesday
3rd Thursday
4th Wednesday

HIGH SCHOOL
1st, 2nd, & 3rd Wednesday
1st Thursday

For elementary schools:  When the 2nd or 4th Thursday is a holiday, the elementary designated school event night may move to the 5th Tuesday.

For middle and high schools:  Due to some holidays, a designated school event night may conflict with a School Board meeting.  Do not schedule meetings on School Board meeting nights.

All schools:  Do not schedule bridging events at your schools the Thursday before high school graduations. This is the night Sequoia High School holds its graduation.
VOLUNTEERS AVAILABLE FOR PTA EVENTS
Jackson High School Key Club has volunteers available to assist at your PTA's events! Contact [email protected] for more information or to request volunteers. They are ready to help!
